Australian technology entrepreneur Marty Gauvin has left Hostworks, the company he founded 10 years ago, after successfully overseeing its acquisition by Broadcast Australia.
Although Marty intends to maintain a number of roles within not-for-profit organisations and fulfil his existing public speaking engagements, his immediate intention is to look at the available opportunities for starting a new business.
Marty said the move on from Hostworks was a logical progression in his professional development. “I’m confident I leave Hostworks in good hands, with a strong management team and an excellent track record in terms of customer care and support,” he said.
“I’m proud of the work that has gone into making Hostworks the company that it is today – and I thank all the folk who have made that journey with me since our humble beginnings in Rundle Street.
“I personally enjoy overcoming business challenges and independently growing companies. While operating a business within BA offers huge opportunities from the point of view of resources and scale, it’s not for me. I intend to move fairly quickly into investigating what kind of business I’d like to start next. Starting up new companies is what I do best.”
Marty Gauvin is an Australian business leader who has established Hostworks as one of the country’s most successful Internet generation companies. Hostworks is a technology company that specialises in managing critical online applications for major businesses throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
Founded in 1999 and listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 2001, Hostworks was purchased by Broadcast Australia in early 2008, becoming part of the Macquarie Communications Infrastructure Group.
Marty’s last day at Hostworks was Tuesday, March 31.As its managing director, Marty developed an extensive business network, expert knowledge and credible reputation in the Internet industry, with a clear understanding of innovative businesses and strategic IT directions. He also fulfils a number of significant roles including as a member of the board of Adelaide-based early stage investor Playford Capital.
During the past eight years. Marty has been involved in a range of Commonwealth Government innovation programs, including membership of the Venture Capital and COMET committees of Innovation Australia. He was also a member of the collaboration working group that contributed to the review of the National Innovation System. Previously Marty sat on committees for AusIndustry innovation programs including Commercial Ready and the Industry Cooperative Innovation Program (ICIP).
Marty is also actively involved with the Inspire Foundation, a not-for-profit service provider that delivers innovative online programs to prevent youth suicide and improve young people's mental health and wellbeing.
