Adelaide retro-pop band Alphabette has scored a major success with its recently released song ‘Pitstop’ chosen as the musical track to the SA Government’s new Riverland TV commercial titled ‘River Time’.
The tourism advertisement showcasing South Australia's Riverland is part of the State Government's Best Backyard campaign, which aims to encourage South Australians to holiday closer to home.
Alphabette last month released its debut EP recording 'Round These Parts. The six song EP showcases the band's unique take on sugary sixties pop with an alternative approach.
The songs are the result of a year of musical collaboration within the band, and a commitment to perfecting live performance.
Alphabette – the band – is Louise O'Reilly, Alister Douglas, Matthew Morison & David Resce.
The EP was recorded at SAE in Adelaide with the help of Michael Carver and mixedby the band in their home studio (...Alister's bedroom). 'Round These Parts was launched on December 13th at 'The Crown & Anchor' hotel music venue.
Says one local commentator: 'Adelaide band, Alphabette, have been playing and evolving together since mid 2012. Rich with sugary vocals, irresistible rhythms, sprinkles of guitar and dripping in the gooey sweetness of '60s pop, Alphabette will make you dance; without spilling your tea.'
Lead vocalist Louise says: “We've spent the latter half of 2013 in a spongy-walled, recording cocoon... now we're ready to emerge and spread our shiny, reflective CD rainbow wings!”

ALPHABETTE: Your spell-checker will continually reject this name – but remember it, for all the best musical reasons… (but please do not pronounce that final ‘e’) !
